%X Furosemide is a practically insoluble in water sulphonamidic diuretic, used for the treatment of edema and hypertension. Randomly-methylated-beta-cyclodextrin(RAMEB) was used as a host molecule to improve its solubility in water, via inclusion complex formation. Different molar ratios (1: 1, 1:2) and various preparation methods (physical mixing, kneading, ultrasonication) were used in order to obtain the inclusion complexes. Phase solubility diagram of furosemide and RAMEB was constructed and a diagram of A(L) type was obtained, with a stability constant of 130 M-1. The inclusion complexes were analysed by in vitro dissolution tests, differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction. As water solubility increased, the partition coefficients of the products decreased.
